<p>I will definitely try and give an update!</p><p>I do think if I had some models, it is possible. </p><p>Everyone in my life who did know told me not to disclose and the one time I did disclose, I was almost summarily fired (by a different ministry)… so that certainly didn’t help.</p><p>In my mind I knew at some point I would disclose because eventually I would have to preach on the topic and didn’t feel like I could with integrity without disclosing. Oddly, it is possible, that the recent suicides and current environment might have pushed me over the edge to disclosure, though hard to really know.</p><p>I deeply respect those who do come out and think it is the best thing for them and for the church (whether they are the pastor or not). But I think there is a reality that churches (generally) have not created safe places for people to disclose — on many issues, but especially this one.</p>
