One of the things I am learning to do these days is to live fully in PLAN B.
It has been almost 6 months since my life blew up.
In one sense, that is a very long time; in other ways it is a very short time.
One of the hard things about finding joy in what I am doing (school, restaurant work, trying to rebuild a semblance of normal life) is that it always feels like PLAN B. And how excited can you really get about PLAN B.
But then one morning when I was praying, Jesus spoke to me. He said simply:
“Don’t you get it… it’s all Plan B this side of Heaven.
You’ve got to live in Plan B.”
PLAN A is paradise.
PLAN A is perfect union with God.
PLAN A is how God created the world.
PLAN A was out as soon as sin entered the world.
The Cross is evidence of PLAN B.
Someday we will enjoy life restored to PLAN A: a new heaven and a new earth and a return to the Garden and to perfect union with God.
Until then, we all live in Plan B.
What does that mean? Life is not how I would script it. It is not even how God would script it. But we need to live fully in Plan B.
The promise of abundant life (John 10:10) is a promise made for Plan B.
Jesus is real in Plan B.
So while it is not what I would have hoped for, planned or scripted… it is.
I can either spend the rest of my life in regret, or learn to live fully in Plan B. As the scriptures put it, “I put before you life and death… now choose life.”
I am learning to choose life by choosing to live fully in Plan B. I hope you do the same…
