Appendix B

1) Teen comes out to a leader: Thank them. Name their courage. Ask how safe they feel at home and school. Clarify confidentiality and mandated‑reporting limits. Offer to talk with parents when they’re ready. Follow‑up within 48 hours with one concrete next step (coffee, trusted mentor, small group).

2) Trans congregant requests name/pronouns: Say yes. Update directories, volunteer lists, and liturgical roles. Coach greeters and small‑group leaders. Offer pastoral care around family conversations. If baptism/dedication liturgies are involved, use their name without caveat.

3) Gay couple asks for baptism/child dedication: Celebrate. Meet to hear their story. Review your single standard for covenant ethics. Plan a service that centers God’s faithfulness and community vows to love and support this family.

4) Volunteer objects to inclusion: Listen without platforming harm. Re‑state the church’s ethic and safety expectations. Offer a study pathway. If necessary, reassign from public‑facing roles until alignment on non‑harassment and safety is clear.

5) Staff member posts harmful content online: Meet promptly with two leaders present. Name the impact. Require removal and a public clarification if damage was public. Provide training and a restorative plan. Repeat offenses trigger discipline steps already published for all staff.
