Plan B

Hearing about, praying for and reading other people’s responses to the tragic death of Matthew Warren, son of Rick & Kay Warren, raises a lot of pastoral — and ultimately theological — questions.

Ultimately pastoral care is about the integration of right theology with the reality of real people’s lives.  True theology works.  If it it doesn’t work, it is not true.  Because God is truth, that which is true about God (theology) will always work.  When it doesn’t work, we need to re-examine our theological presumptions.

In the past I have written about “PLAN B THEOLOGY”.  I think it is both true and helpful.

I summarize Plan B Theology as “given the cards you are dealt, how do you follow Jesus with as much integrity as you possibly can?“
