This 90 minute interview of Rick Warren by John Piper is great stuff. I am an unapologetic fan of Warren. I think any one who think of Warren as “theology light” or watering down the gospel, needs to listen/watch this interview. Folks, Rick Warren is the real deal… and Piper does a nice job with this interview.

Some people have a hard time respecting and learning from people they disagree with.  I don’t really get that… if I only learned from and like people I fully agreed with, that would be a very short list.  For example, there are two major issues that I fundamentally disagree with Rick Warren on — (1) the role of women in leadership (I am an egalitarian; he is a complimentarian); and (2) his position on homosexuality — we disagree about both what the Bible actually says on this issue and how this should get played out in society today.  But despite those (major) differences, I have more respect for Rick Warren than almost any pastor/theologian/leader out there.  Simply put, he is one of my heroes and I consider him  a “mentor-from-a-distance”.

I would love to hear your thoughts…
